Get to know Alhama de Murcia

Alhama de Murcia is a municipality in the Region of Murcia, in the natural comarca of Bajo Guadalentín. The town has Roman origins and was among the places conquered by James I and handed to Castile. In 1298 James II took it during the conquest of the Kingdom of Murcia.

Sierra Espuña rises right behind the town, in the north of the southern half of the region. Its neighbours are Librilla to the north, Murcia to the north-east, Fuente Álamo de Murcia to the east, Mazarrón to the south, Totana to the west and Mula to the north-west.
