Alhama de Granada is a town in the province of Granada, in Andalusia, and the capital of the comarca of Alhama. Its name comes from the thermal baths located there, called al-hammah in Arabic. The Arab baths stand on the remains of Roman baths.
The town rises on a cliff, with houses that hang over the river Alhama. A good part of the Sierras de Tejeda, Almijara y Alhama natural park lies within its municipality. Its best-known festivals include the Carnivals, the Candelaria, the fair of San Juan and the pilgrimage of the Virgen.
