Get to know Algemesí

Algemesí is a town in the province of Valencia, in the Ribera Alta comarca, and its second most populous. It is one of Spain's major citrus centres, with several cooperatives based here. Every September it celebrates the Festivity of la Mare de Déu de la Salut, UNESCO intangible heritage since 2011, with the traditional Muixeranga dance.

The town sits on the Valencian coastal plain where the Magro joins the Xúquer, and part of the municipality lies in the Albufera natural park. Its built-up area almost merges with those of Alzira and Carcaixent. Besides Alzira, it borders Alginet, Guadassuar, Albalat de la Ribera, Polinyà de Xúquer and Sollana.
