Alcorcón is a city in the Community of Madrid, part of the metropolitan area and southwest of the capital. Its fastest growth came in the seventies with newcomers from other Spanish regions, bringing new access roads, more public services and new neighbourhoods.

The city is organised into three areas: the Casco Antiguo, Norte and Suroeste. To the south, the Ensanche Sur is its big recent urban development.
