Get to know Albolote

Albolote is a town in the centre-north of the Vega de Granada and one of the thirty-four members of the Granada metropolitan area. It borders Peligros, Maracena, Atarfe, Colomera, Iznalloz, Deifontes, Cogollos Vega and Calicasas. On 19 April 1956 Albolote and neighbouring Atarfe were hit by Spain's most destructive earthquake of the twentieth century, and El Chaparral was built afterwards.

Besides Albolote itself, the municipality takes in El Aire, El Chaparral, Parque del Cubillas and Pretel, plus estates such as Loma Verde, Villas Blancas, El Torreón, Monte Elvira, Sierra Elvira and Buenavista. The rivers Cubillas, with its reservoir, Colomera, Bermejo and Blanco cross the area. Since 2017 the Granada metro has linked the town with central Granada.
