Passeig Sant Gervasi is a street in Barcelona, located in the Sant Gervasi-Bonanova district. The promenade connects Plaça de la Bonanova with Plaça d'Alfonso Comín, passing through Plaça de John F. Kennedy. In this latter square stands the modernist Rotonda building, located on the corner of Avinguda del Tibidabo. The street's name derives from Sant Gervasi, a martyr venerated as a saint by various Christian denominations, who was murdered in the 4th century in Milan after suffering multiple blows. However, it is essential to note the connection to the toponym of the former municipality of Sant Gervasi de Cazuelas. La Bonanova coincides with the original nucleus of old Sant Gervasi, a predominantly rural area until it was transformed when it became a residential area for Barcelona's upper bourgeoisie. One of the most interesting walks we can take in the neighborhood leads us along Avinguda del Tibidabo, with its excellent examples of residential architecture showcasing the work of some of the most important architects (Enric Sagnier, Joan Rubió i Bellver, and Josep Puig i Cadafalch). To ascend and descend to the highest point of this stately avenue, we can use the Tramvia Blau (Blue Tram), which has been transporting passengers since 1901, when Dr. Andreu deemed it essential for his urban development project on the mountain. For years, it was the city's only tram line. At the foot of Avinguda del Tibidabo, we find the well-maintained gardens of La Tamarita, originally belonging to the Craywinckel family and later to the Mata family. The grounds were designed by Nicolau Maria Rubio i Tudurí, a landscape architect active in the city during the 1920s and 30s. In the mid-19th century, Sant Gervasi was discovered by Barcelona's bourgeoisie, and the first urban developments began. Some of the neighborhood's notable buildings include the Rotonda, Frare Blanc, and Bellesguard, the latter a work by Gaudí. Other notable urban features are the Sant Gervasi Cemetery, the La Tamarita Gardens, designed by Rubió i Tudurí in 1918 on a private estate and inaugurated as a public park in 1994, and the former Casacuberta factory, a work by Josep Domènech i Estapà, recently renovated and complemented with a new building as a science museum.
